Darfur: Demobilization Resumes in West Darfur

Khartoum - The Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Commission (DDR) has started its activities in West Darfur under the auspices of Shertai Jaafer Abdulkarim Es-Haq, head of transitional Darfur regional authority (TDR), Governor of West Darfur.

The process aims to demobilize 1000 men from Sudanese armed forces (SAF); Popular Defense Forces (PDFs) and rebel factions.
The final ceremony will be attended by the Governor of West Darfur and members of the state’s government, officials from the presidency headed by Salafadin Saleh, head of DDR Commission.
The Commission had earlier demobilized 477 soldiers from SAF, PDFs and Darfur rebel fighters.
